How & Where to See Flamingos in Aruba
Seeing flamingos is one of the most popular things to do in Aruba, but it’s also one of the biggest misconceptions visitors have before arriving.
Many people think the famous flamingos are roaming freely somewhere on the island.
They’re not.
In fact, there are only two places in Aruba where you can reliably see flamingos: Renaissance Island and De Palm Island.
Each offers a completely different experience, and knowing the difference beforehand can save you both time and disappointment.
Can You See Flamingos for Free in Aruba?
Unfortunately, no.
Unlike the wild flamingos you may find on islands like Curaçao or Bonaire, Aruba’s famous flamingos live on private islands owned by resorts.
That means you’ll need either an entrance ticket or a hotel stay to visit them.
The good news? Both locations offer beautiful beaches, making it easy to combine your flamingo visit with a relaxing beach day.
Option 1: Renaissance Island
The Most Famous Flamingos in Aruba
If you’ve seen flamingo photos from Aruba on Instagram, chances are they were taken here.
Renaissance Island is a private island owned by the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort and is home to the island’s famous free-roaming flamingos.
The island itself is absolutely beautiful, with crystal-clear water, white sand beaches and a peaceful atmosphere.
Flamingo Beach vs Iguana Beach
Renaissance Island is divided into two beaches.
Flamingo Beach (Adults Only)
This is the iconic beach you’ve probably seen online.
Guests aged 18 and older can visit throughout the day.
Children are welcome only between 9:00 and 10:00 AM, before and after which the beach is adults only.
This is also where you’ll usually find the largest group of flamingos.
Iguana Beach
Families of all ages are welcome here throughout the day.
Flamingos also wander around this beach from time to time, although they’re generally seen more often at Flamingo Beach.
Staying at the Renaissance Resort
If you’re staying at either Renaissance hotel, access to Renaissance Island is included.
Water taxis leave approximately every 15 minutes from the resort throughout the day, and you’re free to come and go whenever you like.
Visiting as a Non-Hotel Guest
You don’t have to stay at the hotel to visit.
Renaissance sells a limited number of Island Passes.
However…
These passes are extremely popular and often sell out within minutes.
Every Saturday at 9:00 AM (Aruba time), tickets become available for the following Sunday through Saturday, provided there is remaining capacity after hotel guests have been accommodated.
Our tip: if visiting Renaissance Island is high on your bucket list, be ready a few minutes before tickets are released.

Option 2: De Palm Island
Flamingos With Your Beach Day
Many visitors don’t realize De Palm Island also has flamingos.
Unlike Renaissance Island, De Palm is an all-inclusive day island packed with activities like snorkeling, waterslides, banana boat rides, zip lines and an open bar.
It offers a much livelier atmosphere, making it especially popular with families.
Important: Your Entry Ticket Does NOT Include the Flamingos
This is where many visitors get caught off guard.
A standard De Palm Island admission ticket does not include access to the flamingo beach.
To visit the flamingos, you’ll need to purchase one of the premium upgrades in addition to your regular island admission.
